Satorp Initiative

Satorp, with the support of its shareholders, is developing new technology to co-process plastic waste in the Coker Unit to broaden its circular product portfolio.

Downstream Processes & Polymers (DPP) R&D Line

Downstream Processes & Polymers R&D line (DPP) aims to develop innovative technologies, methodologies, and products to boost competitiveness, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce the carbon footprint of Refining-Chemicals (RC) assets. This commitment also extends to the circularity of the products it manufactures – fuels, polymers – following a ‘reduce, recycle, valorize’ approach.

Research Strategies
  • Reducing RC emissions through optimized energy consumption, energy full valorization, and electrifying processes.
  • Actively supporting biofuel production scale-up in the Company’s biorefineries worldwide. R&D efforts focus on understanding the entire value chain, from qualifying new feedstocks to combining them with efficient, flexible processes for producing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in a competitive and regulation-compliant manner.
  • Developing high-performance catalysts for differentiated polymers and enhancing their end-of-life recyclability. We evaluate and integrate competitive polymer recycling solutions (mechanical and chemical recycling) to maximize plastic waste valorization using existing assets.
DPP R&D Line - Key Highlights
  • 230 technical collaborators worldwide
  • 60+ collaborations with top universities in 2023
  • 44 new patents filed in 2023
